Who we are
The Tow Now apps and this website are run by Townow Sp. z o.o., ul. na Zakolu Wisły 12b/21, 30-729 Kraków, Poland, KRS 0001271383, NIP 6793378043 (“we”). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Write to contact@townow.io with any question about your data.
What we collect
- Customers: phone number, pickup and destination addresses, vehicle details you enter, tow history, messages to the driver, and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Drivers: name, phone number, tow truck details, documents (driving licence, insurance, technical inspection, truck photos), location while online or on a tow, tow history and earnings.
- Everyone: device push-notification tokens and technical logs (IP address, time and result of requests) that keep the service secure and working.
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. If you join the launch waitlist, see the section below.
Launch waitlist
If you leave your email on townow.io to hear when Tow Now starts, we store your email address, whether you may need a tow or drive a tow truck, the language of the page, and when you signed up and confirmed. We use this only to email you when Tow Now starts and to see how many customers and drivers are interested.
The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you confirm with the button in our first email. You can withdraw it at any time with the link in that email or by writing to contact@townow.io; we then delete your address. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days. Confirmed addresses are kept until we send the launch email and at most 12 months after it. The list is stored on our own server in the EU (Hetzner, Germany) and the emails are sent from our own mail server.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you ask for: price a tow, match you with a driver, show the tow on the map, let you chat and process the payment (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
- To check that drivers and tow trucks meet our requirements and to keep customers safe (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
- To keep accounting and tax records required by Polish law (Art. 6(1)(c)).
- To protect the service against abuse and to handle complaints (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Who receives it
The customer and the driver of a tow see each other's details needed for that tow: the driver sees the pickup, destination and vehicle; the customer sees the driver's name, truck and location during the tow. We use service providers who process data on our behalf: hosting in the EU (Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany), maps and address search (Google), push notifications (Apple, Google) and the payment provider. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. Tow records and invoices are kept for as long as accounting and tax law requires, usually 5 years after the end of the year. Driver location is kept only as long as needed for the tow and the related records. Technical logs are deleted after a short period unless needed to investigate an incident.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Write to contact@townow.io. You can also complain to the Polish supervisory authority, Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa.
Changes
We will update this page when the way we handle data changes and show the date of the last update at the top.
